Fiberglass Hull and Interior Framework

 All WOODEN NICKEL KAYAKS kits come a with fully finished fiberglass hull, seat, and seat back. The hull is ready for a curved plywood or beadand cove strip deck. We recognize that the time consuming and difficult part, when building a kayak, is in forming a reliable hull. Our hulls aretime and test proven to be safe, reliable, and paddle straight.

All interior framework (sheer clamps, deck beams, carlins, and breasthooks)comes fully assembled and dry fitted. This enables building in approximately half of the time.

WOODEN NICKEL KAYAKS realizes that, when paddling, the beauty of a kayak is in the natural wooden deck. Our curved plywood decks do not require stitch and glue seams or fiberglassing. Our strip decks require no elaborate strongback,as the station molds are set inside the fiberglass hull and are temporarily attached to the sheer clamp.

 Custom Cockpit

WOODEN NICKEL KAYAKS kits allow for personal fitting of the coaming andspray skirt rim. Here is a chance to custom design your cockpit openingif our standard cockpit sizing (32 1/2" x 16" with a keyhole design)is not to your liking. Substitute material blanks for standard precut coamingand cockpit spray skirt lip to enable completion of your cockpit design.

Hidden Hatch Covers

Hatch covers are fitted into bulkheads to show the natural beauty ofthe wood grain deck and minimize water from entering through the hatch covers.With elimination of deck openings, hatch compartments stay dry under allconditions. We have developed custom WOODEN NICKEL KAYAKS non-jamming stainlesssteel hardware for a watertight seal.

 Bungee® Deck Shock Cord Mounting System

WOODEN NICKEL KAYAKS kits use an exclusive Bungee shock cord mountingsystem which removes all cleats and strap eyes topside. This eliminatesfear of scraping ones body when making wet re-entries. Our shock cord mountingsystem results in an ultra smooth watertight deck. Below the deck, thereare no rivet ends, nuts, or screw ends. This prevents all possibilitiesof tearing or puncturing a dry bag.

 Yakima Adjustable Footbraces

Hand made from machined aircraft aluminum, these footbraces are the bestavailable. Proven and reliable, they have been used for over 20 years inthe finest kayaks.
